The
city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin is located on the western shore of
Lake Michigan, approximately 80 miles north of Chicago, Illinois.
With 1.6 million inhabitants, Milwaukee is the 17th largest city
in the United States of America.
Originally home to Native American tribes, the first immigrants
that settled in the area were French traders and trappers in the
early 1830's. Milwaukee's first mayor, Solomon Juneau, was elected
in 1846 when the first City Charter was adopted.
