Instructions for the Master Lock 1590D Precision Dial Combination Lock

To remove the lock from its packaging:

  1. Cut through the card back next to the arrow and pull back the plastic door.
  2. The preset combination appears on the instruction sheet which is attached to the back of the lock; it is a series of 3 letters or numbers like the example below.

How to Open the 1590D Precision Dial Combination Lock

If this is a factory-new lock, the preset combination can be found on the instruction sheet included in the lock's packaging.
  1. Turn the dial right 3 times. Stop at the 1st number/letter.
  2. Turn left 1 full turn, pass the 1st number/letter & stop at the 2nd number/letter.
  3. Turn right & stop at the 3rd number/letter. Pull up on shackle.

How to Change the combination on the Master Lock 1590 Precision Dial Combination Lock

  1. Decide on your new 3 letter/number combination. A letter can be used more than once.
  2. With the lock facing you, hold the reset tool so the Master Lock logo is facing the side of the lock. Insert the reset tool firmly into the shackle hole until the collar of the reset tool touches the lock body.
  3. Rotate the tool 90° in either direction until the Master Lock logo on the reset tools is facing you.
  4. Turn the dial right at least 3 rotations to clear the current combination.
  5. Turn right & stop at your 1st number/letter.
  6. Turn left one full turn, pass your first number/letter & stop at your 2nd number/letter.
  7. Turn right & stop at your 3rd number/letter.
  8. Turn the reset tool back 90° & remove it from the lock.
  9. Close the lock & record your combination in a safe place. You can store your combination at www.masterlockvault.com
